The Fickle Music Listener
Random musings. I wouldn’t call myself alone on this.
Most house songs are chock-full of repetition. Take a 4-bar melody, loop, keep looping, add some whooshes, introduce the kick and snare, keep looping, whoosh, BOOM, quiet break that builds up to round 2…yeah.
And yet strangely, sometimes the songs just have so much freaking appeal.

The next time you hear a glitchy, growly electronic song, before you call it dubstep, ask yourself this fairly simple question: “Is the beat similar in speed to the seconds of a clock?”
